As a freelancer there are many ways you are going to promote your services, some which are obvious
- Having your own website – There are a lot of freelancers that dont have their own site, but I believe its essential. It shows professionalism, it shows you take your business seriously and that you are keen to show off your body of work. It makes it obviously easier for you to pick up jobs outside of freelance sites
- Being part of multiple Freelance Sites – It astounds me that people restrict themselves by using only 1 freelance site. It only works in your favor to have accounts at a few freelance sites, have a nice portfolio and history.
- Using Pay Per Click – Companies like Adwords, Yahoo Search Marketing, MSN Adcenter, MIVA are another means of making yourself available to clients all over the world.
But what I want to talk about today is Social Media Sites..
Are you using them? If so, How is it working for you?, Which ones are you using?
Integritylance can be found on numerous ones. Feel free to add us or follow.

Darren rowse from Problogger has a great post on his experience with Social Media Sites and how he has used in blogging and promoting his home base sites.
He looks at is it worth putting time into sites that you dont own, and is it really a good strategy to have.
For the most part, there are numerous things that can be done through these sites as darren mentions like
- Add content
- Build Relationships
- Test Ideas
- Grow a Profile
- Listen
- etc… he lists more
For the most part though they are helpful in building a brand, gaining traffic and creating relationships
Twitter has become a great place to meet new businesses and develop a strong fanbase.
Now if your not sure where to start, I would recommend you begin with twitter. If your pretty good at figuring things out, then dive in.. if not and you are looking for some sharp tips to land you some freelance gigs privately then I would highly recommend a report that was written by Dana Wilhoit.. she is a smart cookie and had taken her experience with using Twitter and compiled it into a report which can be picked up for $7. Its called Twitter Gold Rush
